Mistakes were made....
No-one will deny that since the Retribution expansion T1 cruisers finally have some teeth. In fact most major alliances have a T1 Cruiser doctrine now that they get together and fly to find fights. In Faction Warfare the T1 cruises always was the work horse of large fleet fights. The buffs that they received only made this horse stronger and faster.
For the last month the Caldari have been pushing our home system of Nennamaila hard. They took two key systems around it, Aldranette and Enaluri. We took Aldranette back 2 weeks ago and now we are pushing Enaluri, where the fighting goes Plex to Plex. On Friday March 29th at 10:15 EVE one Plex skirmish would show off the new power of the T1 cruisers, and bring home how strong they really are.
All day the Squids and members of the Gallente Militia have been poking each other. We would run a Plex in frigates they would chase us out with destroyers, we would ship up to destroyers they come back in cruisers, we get cruisers they would go to the station as type insults cause they don't want fight. This went on for about 20 mins until, we jumped into our Derpy Atron Fleet derpped into them. They kill three of us, only netting 4 million ISK in kills. Figuring now that we gave them the fight the waited we were going to get ours. So a quick reship to our heavy DPS, Shield Gank Gang, and we were going back out.
The Shield Gank Gang of the Gallente Militia is a very basic idea, maximum DPS with sacrifice to your

The Caldari would come at us with a T2 shield gang. They warped to the large outpost and saw what were in and and shipped up to fight it. Bring two Eagle Heavy Assault Cruisers, a Naga Attack BattleCruiser, and two Navy Caracals. They would also bring two Basilisk logistics ships. Before shooting starts the two Navy Caracals warp out and one comes back in a Falcon the other never returns to the field.
The skirmish starts with the Caldari warping a bit to close to us. We figure that the two Eagles and Naga they are going to try and pull range. They don't, which I hold is their first mistake of many in this fight. Our gang is clearly a brawler fleet. We want to be right in the middle of the fight, not a place for snipers. Another mistake was warping out the two Navy Caracals. I think that this was mis-communication on their part. Even though the Falcon is a great asset to the fight, it came in to late to matter. They would have had a better chance at fighting us with extra DPS.
Caldari Basilisk |
The last mistake that the made was they flew all Caldari ships. Besides these ships looking like they should not even tumble in space, it made it very easy for us to set up our single Griffin EWAR ship. It was called before we ever went into the Plex that we needed Caldari jammers. We knew that this was all they flew. Our Griffin only needed use ECM for Caladri ships their whole fleet could be jammed out at ease. While they did bring the better EWAR ship in the Falcon, it had to have jammers for Minmtarr ships, Gallente ships, and Caldari Ships. But with a Maulus Sensor Dampening frigate with us we were able to
Caldari Falcon |
Larkness did a very good job with this fleet. He had us target up several ships and keep us switching targets as the fight went on. Even through we have them out numbered, they have us out ship classes and should be have been able to break the tanks of our Scythes had only one and not both of the Navy Caracals warped out. This was a big mistake as they only had about 1400 DPS on the field, and most of it was supposed to be applied at range. This close range fighting gave us a great advantage. We were able to target them, point them and switch targets faster than their Basilisk pilots could follow. Testing the tanks of each. Also by using a our drones to apply damage to their logistic boat during the whole fight, they had to make sure that kept a Shield Transporter on each other reducing the

In my honest opinion this was fair fight, that the Caldari botched. If they would have planned it out better, Used different racial ships, used drones to applied Logi pressure, Came in at range and not to brawl, they could have succeed in killing more than just a Vexor. But over confidence in T2 ships and Logi, was their down fall. Proving that once again in EVE in not just skill points, but knowledge and skills that wins fights.
